Lost Voicemails: Volume I, Mason’s Dream

She thought we were watching something very different…

Due to the abridged timeline between engagement and marriage, Sarah did not have a bachelorette party. This really cramped my life long dream of spending the night in jail with my best friend from some intoxicated girl shenanigans, but I guess it’s for the better.

However, it was a destination wedding and so Wave, Kristen, Nani, Sarah, and I did get to have some girl time, just much more tame. One of the things we had talked about was watching Mamma Mia the night before she got married. It was a special movie between her, Nani, and I: our group chat name has been the Dynamos since junior year when our love of Abba solidified our friendship.

Inspired by a fling in Paris, Nani presented this idea for a voiceover voice memo of Mason talking about Sarah. After the brainstorming of two professional specialist expert wizards in the video-making industry, we created this Volume of Lost Voicemails from Mason to Sarah, but we would make her think she was just watching the Mamma Mia movie, until it switched over seamlessly.

Mason sent a few pretend voicemails, talking to Sarah, and Nani clipped them together (it made me too squirmy to listen to him be sappy). Voicemails were a big part of their long distance dating relationship so I knew the added esoteric layer would be meaningful to them.

Illegal, but for a good cause…

After a few well-placed clips and the audio overlayed, we had a sentimental masterpiece. When we sat down to watch on the eve of March 22, 2025, Nani and I maniacally rubbed our hands.

Sarah actually started groaning when she saw this envelope and the spotty movie intro because she thought I had pirated the movie. (She’s not wrong, I had to pull the introduction from Youtube.) But then Mason started talking and I teared up, watching her slowly catch up to what was going on.

    My favorite part…

I love how he closes out and the clips played here that I filmed over the course of them dating. I got to witness these moments of exciting love between them and I hold those authentic captures very close to my heart.

Look how excited she is! You can’t fabricate it baby.
